Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Senior System Administrator I to ensure reliability, security, and compliance of OT systems across renewable energy operations. Working with autonomy, you will design, deploy, and harden on‑premises OT infrastructure, lead incident resolution, and guide junior admins.

You will manage Windows and Linux environments, oversee virtualization, backups, and lifecycle planning, with growing exposure to Azure/AWS for future cloud integration, while aligning with NERC CIP

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of IT experience and 5 years OT experience.
• Industry certifications in systems administration, virtualization, infrastructure, or cybersecurity preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration, virtualization, redundancy, backup/recovery, endpoint management, AD, monitoring, lifecycle practices.
• Foundational knowledge of Azure and AWS for future cloud assessments and adoption.
• Ability to design secure, on-premises infrastructure with NERC CIP controls; apply to future cloud designs.
• Ability to diagnose complex incidents, lead root-cause analysis, and implement durable improvements.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel to field or office locations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for OT system administration issues; develop sustainable solutions.
• Design, deploy, and manage on-prem OT environments supporting SCADA, control networks, and secure remote ops; plan for cloud adoption.
• Act as Tier 3 escalation for Windows, Linux, virtualization, storage, and on-prem infrastructure.
• Lead high-availability, backup verification, failover testing, and disaster-recovery readiness.
• Own configuration management for OT server platforms with baselines and documentation.
• Develop and apply system-hardening baselines per NIST/CIS; partner with cybersecurity for remediation.
• Lead OS migrations, hypervisor upgrades, and on-prem infrastructure modernization; support cloud transitions.
• Manage lifecycle planning for Windows, Linux, and on-prem platforms; assess end-of-life risks.
• Collaborate with SCADA, field engineering, cybersecurity, and operations to deploy services and validate interoperability.
• Coordinate root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews; implement permanent corrective actions.
• Standardize imaging, deployment, monitoring, patching, access control, and configuration procedures; preserve NERC CIP evidence.
• Mentor technicians and junior admins through knowledge sessions and reviews.
