Job summary

Cable One is seeking an OSP Designer II to create cost-effective broadband system designs, using CAD/GIS tools under supervision. You will collaborate with Technical Operations, Construction, and Engineering to deliver design and engineering services while upholding Cable One standards, processes, and digitizing practices.

The role requires an Associate degree with several years of experience in outside plant design or GIS, and offers remote work options within the US.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent with 5+ years related experience. Outside plant design, construction, or GIS experience preferred.
• Intermediate knowledge of GIS applications such as ESRI and Schneider design software.
• Intermediate understanding of cable design; well-versed in HFC and Fiber symbology.
• Familiarity with telecommunications outside plant equipment, design, and construction techniques.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design new and existing HFC plant extensions.
• Perform base drafting and read walkout information.
• Update as-builts as construction is completed and release the area.
• Provide complete construction build packets with full design deliverables.
• Learn new software and adapt to new technology when required.
• Create fiber splicing matrices and Lightpath circuits.
• Assess fiber availability and reinforcement requirements.
• Design major plant upgrades and perform undesigns/redesigns.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently with accuracy.
