U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Canteen Service, seeks a Supervisory Health Tech (Opticians) to coordinate Optical Shop operations at the San Antonio VA Medical Center. This role acts as a liaison between eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams to enhance Veterans’ eyewear experience.

The position requires leadership of Optician staff, expertise in lens fitting, prescription accuracy, and quality control, with a strong focus on customer service and compliant documentation.

Formación

• Specialized Experience Requirement: at least one year performing duties of Supervisory Health Tech/Optician.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and DOS-based software used by the Optical Contractor and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Ability to review optical prescriptions for accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Skill in measuring and verifying lens placement within frames.
• Ability to match lens types and positioning to patient needs.
• Ability to identify and resolve optical issues and maintain quality control.
• A current, valid REAL ID is required to work with the Veterans Canteen Service.

Responsabilidades

• Duties include: greeting customers, responding to inquiries, and guiding product pricing, availability, and delivery timelines for eyewear.
• Oversees all personnel functions related to Optician staff, including supervision and performance oversight.
• Directs workload distribution and monitors task completion to ensure efficient operations.
• Assists customers with frame selection and product upgrades while maintaining knowledge of frames, lenses, and coatings.
• Performs eyewear measurements, fittings, adjustments, and basic repairs; documents services and patient interactions in CPRS.
• Manages customer communications and coordinates follow-up actions to ensure timely resolution of needs.
