Job description

Overview

Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to plan, schedule, design, and execute large and complex programs and projects. The role involves providing weekly status reports and updating operational efforts. This position is part of a three-tier Operations Manager series, with increased independence and initiative compared to the lower levels.

This position supports the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP), specifically supporting the Core, OPSSID, ODDR, and U.S. Coast Guard project portfolios as the domain lead and senior subject matter expert.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing military medicine. Since 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and federal and private partners, supporting scientific programs that benefit military personnel and civilians.

Note: The incumbent must have lived in the US for three of the past five years.

Responsibilities
  1. Communicate program data and information to leadership and staff as required.
  2. Prepare and deliver reports and briefs to leadership.
  3. Maintain program history using tracking and reporting software.
  4. Engage with components, commands, and units' leadership and staff.
  5. Develop and implement program strategies with key personnel.
  6. Securely store and disseminate collected data.
  7. Prepare and present data, guidance, and review reports.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned, including training participation.
  9. Manage budgetary responsibilities if applicable.
  10. Provide subject matter expertise on dietary supplements (DS) and oversee related consultations.
  11. Manage the OPSS website content, ensuring it is evidence-based and current, especially regarding drugs, botanicals, and self-care products.
  12. Review all ATEs related to dietary supplements, vitamins, minerals, energy drinks, and self-care products.
  13. Lead the OPSS 'Train the Trainer' educational program and conduct trainings as SME.
  14. Collaborate with external partners like USDA, FDA, USADA, NIH to address issues impacting military personnel regarding DS.
  15. Address adverse event reporting related to DS.
  16. Monitor emerging trends in dietary supplements and communicate relevant information, including marketing strategies.
  17. Lead the Combat Rations Database (ComRaD) project with multiple stakeholders.
  18. Support CHAMP outreach efforts and market OPSS at conferences.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned, including training participation.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct authority over hiring, disciplinary actions, salaries, performance evaluations, and work activities.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required; advanced degrees preferred in nutrition, chemistry, biochemistry, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical, organizational, coordination, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of DOD structure, community, training, safety, and culture.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, multimedia platforms, and technical hardware/software.
  • Deep knowledge of nutrition education and ability to conduct trainings.
  • Extensive knowledge of dietary supplements regarding content, safety, labeling, and marketing.
  • Ability to develop nutritional education plans and advise on DOD nutrition policies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust/CAC clearance.
Work Environment

This position is fully remote.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $100,500 - $145,000, based on experience and education.
