HJF is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to plan, schedule, design, and carry out large and complex programs and projects. Provides weekly status report to and updated operational efforts. This is the middle level of a three position Operations Manager series. Distinguishable from the lower level as Manager has more independence and uses greater initiative from Director.

This position will be in support of Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP) supporting the Core, OPSSID, ODDR and U.S. Coast Guard project portfolios serving as the domain lead and senior subject matter expert.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.

Note: This site requires that the incumbent has lived in the US for three out of the past five years.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate all applicable data and information of the program(s) to all appropriate leadership and staff members as required.
  • Prepares and delivers reports and briefs to all appropriate leadership as needed.
  • Maintains the history of program information and operations using tracking and reporting software.
  • Plans and executes initial and continuing engagement with identified components, commands and units’ leadership and staff members as required.
  • Plans and facilitates with key persons to develop and execute implementation of program
  • Securely disseminates and stores collected data and information as required.
  • Prepares and delivers data, information, guidance, review, and decision reports and briefs to all appropriate personnel.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
  • May include budgetary responsibility to prepare.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and key scientific resource on DS. Oversees externally requested consultations relating to DS.
  • Oversees the management of: The OPSS website, including reviewing all content as the subject matter expert, and ensuring content and information presented is evidence-based, and up-to-date. Also responsible for content related to drugs, botanicals, and self- care products, The OPSS website serves Military Service Members, healthcare providers, leaders, and family members.
  • Responsible for reviewing all ATEs related to dietary supplements (DS), vitamins and minerals, energy drinks, drugs, and self-care products. On average, 125-130 DS inquiries are received on a monthly basis.
  • Leads the OPSS “Train the Trainer” educational program, and Military Service Member Education and Training. Conduct educational trainings as Subject Matter Expert.
  • Contacts and works with external partners to include USDA, FDA, USADA, NIH’s are aware of issues impacting Military Service Members with regard to DS and DS ingredients. Facilitates networking across the services with regard to the topic of DS, to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Work with stakeholders on Adverse event reporting related to DS, as needed.
  • New and emerging trends on the topic of dietary supplements, and how these trends impact performance in accordance with DoD missions and objectives. Also works with the marketing and social media teams to adequately market OPSS, and communicate appropriate resources to our audience.
  • Project lead for the Combat Rations Database (ComRaD). Manage project with staff from Combat Feeding, NSRDEC, USARIEM, and HJF.
  • Assists CHAMP staff in OPSS outreach efforts and markets the OPSS at related conferences to healthcare providers, and other audiences as necessary.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct Supervisor: Direct authority to make decisions on the following: employee hiring, disciplinary action, starting salaries and merit increases; conduct employee performance evaluations and directs work activities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Preference for advanced degrees in nutrition, chemistry, and biochemistry or related fields.
  • Minimum of 9-10 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Significant analytical, organizational, coordination, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of DOD organizational structure, community, training requirements, safety requirements and culture.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office software programs, multimedia platforms (texts, video, internet use, conference calls, etc.) and general technical knowledge and experience to develop expertise with hardware and software.
  • Thorough knowledge of nutrition education and ability to conduct educational trainings
  • Extensive knowledge in the field of dietary supplements, regarding the content, safety, labeling, and marketing of these products.
  • Ability to develop nutritional education plans and provide recommendations for Department of Defense policies related to nutrition and dietary supplements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust/CAC.

Work Environment

  • This position will be 100% remote.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $100,500-$145,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
