Job summary

Gilbane Building Company is seeking a General Superintendent to lead field operations on a NYC-area project up to $100M. This on-site role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and safety management to drive on-time, on-budget results.

You will oversee trade contractors, manage budgets, coordinate with project teams, and implement safety programs while developing teams and maintaining high standards of quality across multiple disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10–15 years of experience on $30–$100 million commercial/industrial construction projects in a lead superintendent role.
• OSHA 30-hour certified.
• STS-C Certification.
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed training.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day coordination of trade contractors to meet the project schedule.
• Manages the project budget for general conditions and site services.
• Develops and communicates the work plan for field changes.
• Maintains understanding of contract documents to anticipate problems.
• Obtains permits and enforces safety compliance on site.
• Leads safety strategies and drives safety culture.
• Plans, coordinates, and manages jobsite logistics and schedule updates.
• Trains direct reports and fosters a positive, inclusive work environment.
• Collaborates with business development to align with client delivery and sales strategies.
