Job summary

Gilbane Building Company seeks a General Superintendent to independently manage field operations on a Cleveland area project up to $100 million. The role requires daily site presence, leadership of trade contractors, budget oversight, and proactive safety enforcement.

You will collaborate with Senior Superintendents, Project Managers, and Executives, build high-performing teams, and drive process improvements across safety and quality programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• 10–15 years of lead superintendent experience on $30–$100M projects
• OSHA 30-hour certified
• STS-C certification
• First Aid, CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed Training
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day coordination of trade contractors to ensure high-quality work and schedule adherence
• Manages the project budget for general conditions and site services
• Develops, documents, and communicates field work plans and changes
• Maintains contract document understanding to anticipate problems
• Verifies permits for construction activities
• Acts as primary safety representative enforcing safety across trades
• Develops safety strategies and drives safety culture
• Maintains project schedules and contingency plans
• Leads contractor meetings and manages daily reports
• Collaborates with business development to align with sales strategies
• Trains direct reports on processes and daily tasks
• Ensures workload alignment with company standards
• Fosters a positive, inclusive work environment
