Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Lead Cloud Engineer on the Observability Platform to design, build, and operate high‑throughput telemetry pipelines (logs, metrics, traces) across multiple clouds and datacenters. You will mentor teams, implement secure, scalable observability, and drive enterprise-wide OpenTelemetry adoption.

You will collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams, define reliability standards, and own end-to-end platform monitoring and incident response practices in a Fortune 6 company.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering
• 5+ years of experience with observability practices (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs)
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry
• 5+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD)
• 5+ years with public clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines
• 3+ years with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
• 3+ years with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services.
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry.
• Architect and scale high-throughput telemetry pipelines.
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring with SLOs and alerts.
• Collaborate with SRE, Platform, and Cloud teams to establish reliability standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews.
• Automate workflows and improve platform automation.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines with mTLS and secret management.
