GitHub is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Observability Delivery team. You will design, build, and operate high-scale telemetry pipelines and contribute to reliable production systems. You will lead cross-team efforts to remove bottlenecks and improve observability across services.

You will write production software in Go and Ruby, work across cloud infra, Kubernetes, VMs, and networking, and mentor peers to ensure dependable operation. Remote role based in the United States.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with production systems.
• Experience delivering production software and caring for reliability.
• Proficiency in Go, Ruby, Java, or Python, across large services.
• Bachelor's or higher in CS or related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-scale pipelines for logs, metrics, traces, and exceptions.
• Lead cross-team work to remove scaling bottlenecks and improve telemetry.
• Write and maintain production software in Go and Ruby, configuring tools.
• Work across cloud infra, Kubernetes, VMs, networking, and service connectivity.
• Partner with teams to understand observability needs and improve tooling.
• Own system health through monitoring, incident response, and on-call participation.
