Job summary

CVS Health seeks a Senior Observability Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate large-scale observability services using Go, Python and Java. Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
• 3+ years of observability practices including SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting and incident management
• 3+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java
• 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry (OTLP, conventions, instrumentation patterns)
• 3+ years with cloud-native platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD)
• 3+ years with public clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• 2+ years designing and scaling distributed data pipelines
• 2+ years with IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
• 2+ years with Helmcharts and Kustomize
• 2+ years with Grafana OSS or equivalent observability backends
• 2+ years with PostgreSQL/MySQL

Responsibilities

• Develop custom software to drive the observability platform
• Design, build, and operate core observability services
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry
• Architect scalable telemetry pipelines with focus on performance and cost
• Develop self-service observability capabilities for onboarding and troubleshooting
• Monitor and secure the observability platform with SLOs and health checks
• Collaborate with SRE and Cloud teams to set reliability standards
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident reviews
• Automate workflows and CI/CD improvements
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines and secret management
• Document standards and best practices
• Engage with teams to influence roadmap and deliver improvements
• Provide mentorship and architectural guidance
