Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Charlotte, NC seeks a senior structural engineer to lead projects in nuclear facility design and upgrades. You will guide junior team members, collaborate with multi-discipline engineers, and apply your expertise in materials, structural analysis, and reinforced concrete design.

You will work on diverse projects for various clients, preparing calculations, developing specs, and supporting drawing development with state-of-the-art tools.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience on a project team in design and analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications and support designers with drawing development.
• Direct and guide work of less experienced project team members.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment/piping supports, and foundations.
• Address loading conditions including wind and seismic while coordinating with the team.
