Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group. You will collaborate with a team of structural engineers, interface with other disciplines, and guide less experienced team members on diverse projects for nuclear facilities and upgrades.

The role emphasizes structural analysis, code compliance, and design optimization with travel to client/sites as needed. Hybrid schedule requires in-office work 3 days per week.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience on design and analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and strong written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support designers.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations.
• Conduct structural analyses including loading conditions such as wind and seismic.
• There is the potential to travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site coordination on a hybrid schedule.
