Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior Structural Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group in Richmond, VA. The role involves leading design and analysis for new nuclear facilities and upgrades, mentoring junior staff, and interfacing with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering deliverables.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Civil Engineering with a structural focus, 7+ years of experience, and proficiency with STAAD/SAP2000/ANSYS. Knowledge of ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI is required.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• 7+ years of experience in design and analysis of structures as part of a project team.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, ANSYS).
• Familiarity with design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and analysis for nuclear facility projects and upgrades.
• Guide and mentor junior team members on engineering deliverables.
• Prepare and review design calculations and specifications; support drawing development.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and travel to client/vendor sites as needed.
