Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a lead design engineer in Richmond, VA to guide a team of structural engineers on nuclear facility projects and upgrades. You will interface with other disciplines and with clients to deliver robust structural solutions.

The role requires deep expertise in steel and concrete design, strong communication, and a PE or SE license. Hybrid work involves 3 days onsite and 2 days remote at our Richmond office.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience on design/analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Guide design calculations, develop specifications, and coordinate drawing development with designers.
• Perform and review the structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members, and foundations.
• Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews and construction coordination.
