Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior structural engineer in Reston, VA to lead design and analysis for nuclear facilities. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, guide junior engineers, and ensure deliverables meet code requirements and client specs.

You will apply knowledge of materials, steel and concrete design, and perform structural analysis using industry-standard tools. Occasional travel to client sites and vendors may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis from ABET-accredited program.
• 7+ years on project team designing/analyzing structures.
• Proficiency with STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS.
• Familiar with ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and design.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specs, support drafting.
• Guide others in engineering deliverables.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, foundations.
• Travel to client/vendor offices or plant sites as needed.
