Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its Nuclear Power Group. You will engage in design and analysis of structural systems for new nuclear facilities and upgrades, guiding a team of engineers and interfacing with other disciplines to deliver safe, reliable nuclear power solutions.

The role emphasizes applying knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel and concrete design, with hybrid working arrangements (in-office 3 days/week).

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree required.
• 5+ years on a project team designing/analyzing structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL or ANSYS).
• Familiarity with design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design and analysis of structural systems for new nuclear facilities and plant upgrades.
• Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, and support drawing development.
• Lead others in development of engineering deliverables within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
