Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a lead design engineer in structural engineering to guide a team on nuclear facility projects, including upgrades and new builds. You will interface with clients and other disciplines, applying deep knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and code-compliant design.

Responsibilities include preparing calculations, developing specifications, and coordinating drawings, with travel to client sites as needed. ABET BSCE and PE/SE preferred.

Qualifications

• BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 12+ years of experience on design and analysis of industrial/heavy commercial or nuclear facility structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software (STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS).
• Proficiency with design codes such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• PE or SE license.

Responsibilities

• Guide a team of structural engineers, interface with other disciplines and clients.
• Lead and mentor a structural engineering team on projects for new nuclear facilities and upgrades.
• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, and reinforced concrete.
• Prepare, review or guide structural analysis and design of steel frames, concrete members and foundations.
• Travel to client/vendor offices for design reviews and construction coordination.
