Job summary

Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group seeks a Civil/Structural Engineer to contribute to design and analysis of nuclear safety-related structures. You will work with a team of engineers and designers on projects for new and operating nuclear plants, providing analyses under seismic and impulsive loads.

Responsibilities include applying analysis methods, developing calculations and specifications, and supporting drawing development.

Qualifications

• MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years of experience working as a member of a project team in the design and analysis of structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, STRUDL, SASSI, ANSYS, or LS-DYNA.
• Proficiency with analysis and design codes and standards such as ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Prepare design calculations, developing specifications, and supporting designers with drawing development on a wide range of engineering projects for various clients.
• Guide others in the development of engineering deliverables.
• Use software to perform structural analysis under various loading conditions, including seismic loading and impactive/impulsive loading.
• Travel to client and vendor offices as well as project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification of designs.
