Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for nuclear power uprates, with at least 12 years of nuclear industry experience. The role involves interfacing with clients, developing proposals, and leading engineering teams on turbine, heat exchanger, and system upgrade projects.

The position operates on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work three days per week, located in the U.S. nuclear power group, with strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 12+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong technical reporting and calculations experience.
• Working knowledge of mechanical engineering codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform consulting work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Manage resources and budgets for tasks.
• Review heat balance, pumps, heat exchangers, and plant hazards calculations.
• Review reports and equipment evaluations for client needs.
• Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
• Interface with vendors for document reviews and equipment compliance.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff.
• Perform independent reviews of work and calculations.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
