Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is expanding its Nuclear Power Group in the United States, seeking an experienced Mechanical Analysis Engineer to lead licensing basis evaluations for nuclear uprate projects and advance plant heat-transfer analyses. You will mentor junior staff, interface with clients, and contribute to proposal development.

The role requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program, 10+ years in nuclear power, and strong thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics background.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics interest.
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of balance of plant systems, heat balance, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and related assessments.
• Excellent technical report writing and ability to prepare calculations and reports.
• Strong proficiency with MS Office and field project communications.
• Willingness to lead and mentor junior engineers and interface with clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Prepare calculations related to heat balances, pumps, heat exchangers, and heat sinks to support client recommendations.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff on power plant engineering tasks.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
