Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Nuclear Mechanical Analysis Engineer to lead licensing basis evaluations for uprate projects at nuclear plants. The role focuses on applying thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to major systems, with a strong emphasis on accurate calculations and clear client-facing reports.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in the nuclear power industry, a BSME from an ABET-accredited program, and proven ability to communicate technically.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics background.
• 7+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Strong technical report writing and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design of nuclear plants.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to major plant systems and components.
• Perform consulting level work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Prepare calculations and reports such as heat balances and equipment evaluations to support client recommendations.
• Present technical discussions and project status to clients and teams.
• Interface with clients and project teams, attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
