Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the Nuclear Power Group and lead analyses for power uprate projects. You will apply thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to major plant systems and equipment, developing calculations and reports for client reviews.

The role requires a BSME from an ABET‑accredited program, 7+ years in nuclear power, and strong writing/communication skills. Hybrid work schedule: three days in the office, two remote.

Qualifications

• BSME from ABET-accredited program with strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 7+ years in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of codes, standards and regulations for mechanical design in nuclear plants.
• Excellent technical report writing and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics to power plant systems and equipment.
• Prepare and review calculations related to heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers and condensers.
• Prepare task reports and equipment evaluations for client needs.
• Perform equipment sizing and optimization to support uprate proposals.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and status.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.
