Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer for nuclear power uprate projects. The role emphasizes thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics within major plant systems and equipment. You will deliver calculations, reports, and evaluations to support client decisions and regulatory compliance.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remotely, and requires strong report writing and client-facing communication.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 7+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering design and analysis for nuclear power plants.
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for nuclear power uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to power plant engineering.
• Perform consulting level work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Prepare calculations and reports: heat balances, power train pumps, heat exchangers, condenser/heat sink, and plant hazards.
