Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced nuclear mechanical engineer to lead uprate projects for nuclear power plants. You will interface with clients, prepare proposals and cost estimates, and mentor junior staff while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

The role requires a BSME (ABET-accredited) with extensive nuclear experience, strong analytical and reporting skills, and a proven track record in turbine retrofit and heat transfer applications.

Qualifications

• ABET-approved BSME with strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 12+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical design codes, standards, and regulations for nuclear plants.
• Excellent technical report writing skills and ability to prepare calculations/reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform consulting work for power uprates in the nuclear industry and develop proposals and estimates.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present status and technical discussions.
• Lead and mentor junior engineering staff on power plant tasks.
• Review and validate calculations, reports, and equipment sizing for uprate projects.
• Attend client meetings and site walks to confirm scope and client satisfaction.
