Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in the United States is seeking a senior mechanical engineer with nuclear power experience to lead power uprate projects, reviews, and design optimization across turbine, heat exchangers, and NSSS systems.

The role requires mentoring junior engineers, interacting with clients and vendors, and delivering calculations, reports, and cost estimates. Hybrid work with three days in office enables collaboration and flexible remote work.

Qualifications

• Requires a BSME from an ABET-accredited program with strong thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics background.
• Requires 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Ability to prepare calculations and technical reports with clear writing.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform consulting work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and project status.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Manage resources and budgets for tasks and schedules.
• Review heat balances, pumps, heat exchangers, and plant hazards.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers on technical tasks.
• Attend client meetings and site walkdowns to validate scope.
