Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group seeks a senior mechanical engineer with extensive experience in nuclear uprates and turbine retrofit projects. You will lead technical discussions with clients, develop cost estimates, and manage resources for complex power plant engineering tasks.

The role requires 10+ years in the nuclear sector, ABET-accredited BSME, and strong skills in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• B.S.M.E. from ABET-accredited program with strong background in thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
• 10+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Experience with nuclear uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical design of nuclear plants.
• Strong report writing and MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Perform consulting work for power uprates in the nuclear industry.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and status.
• Develop engineering proposals and cost estimates.
• Manage resources, loading and budgeting; estimate task completion.
• Review calculations related to heat balances, heat exchangers, and plant hazards.
