Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to advance power uprate projects. You will analyze turbines, heat exchangers, and balance-of-plant systems, and prepare technical reports while mentoring junior staff. The role requires ABET-accredited BSME and extensive nuclear experience.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BSME with focus on thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
• 12+ years of nuclear power industry experience.
• Experience with nuclear power uprates and/or turbine retrofit projects.
• Knowledge of balance of plant systems, heat balance, pumps, heat exchangers, and related components.
• Strong technical report writing and calculation preparation skills.
• Familiarity with codes and standards for nuclear mechanical design.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead licensing basis system and component evaluations for uprate projects.
• Apply thermodynamics and heat transfer knowledge to power plant engineering tasks.
• Prepare calculations, reports, and equipment evaluations to support recommendations.
• Lead and mentor junior staff on mechanical engineering tasks.
• Interface with clients and project teams to present technical discussions and progress.
