Job summary

TerraPower, based in Bellevue, WA, seeks a Principal Nuclear Licensing Engineer to lead licensing activities for the Natrium project. You will drive regulatory strategy, mentor staff, and manage complex licensing engagements with the NRC, collaborating with engineering and project teams to ensure timely, compliant outcomes.

Requires deep NRC regulatory expertise, 15–20+ years in nuclear licensing, and a proven leadership track.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (nuclear or civil) with advanced degree preferred.
• 15–20+ years of nuclear licensing experience.
• Experience with NRC 10 CFR regulations and licensing applications.
• Proven leadership and mentoring ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, authorship, and technical review of complex licensing documents (e.g., Safety Analysis Report, Environmental Report).
• Provide strategic direction for regulatory engagement plans and licensing pathways.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to prepare responses to NRC questions and information requests.
• Mentor junior and mid-level licensing engineers and guide regulatory interpretation.
• Serve as senior interface to scope, prioritize, and execute licensing activities.
• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to ensure regulatory compliance in development and changes.
• Oversee preparation and control of licensing documentation in line with QA standards.
• Lead interactions with partners, contractors, and internal disciplines on licensing issues.
• Review and approve correspondence to regulatory agencies.
