Job summary

TerraPower in Bellevue, Washington, seeks a Principal Engineer, System Design, to advance the Natrium Demonstration Project. You will lead the design of reactor primary systems and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, reliable, and licensable solutions.

This high‑impact role emphasizes systems architecture, design documentation, and interfaces with suppliers, regulators, and project management to progress toward commercial deployment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design and systems integration.
• Experience with nuclear or similar complex industrial applications.
• Strong writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive alignment across multidisciplinary engineering teams to define and refine system requirements.
• Design nuclear and industrial mechanical systems, including: requirements definition, analysis, specifications, and system drawings.
• Develop and maintain system architecture and design documentation (e.g., Design Basis Documents, P&IDs, Interface Control Documents).
• Interface with and support licensing activities needed to obtain construction and operating licenses.
