Job summary

TerraPower, based in Bellevue, WA, seeks a highly motivated Principal Nuclear Licensing Engineer to support Natrium reactor licensing. You will draft licensing documents, coordinate with NRC auditors, and ensure compliance with TerraPower’s licensing strategy.

The role requires collaboration with engineering staff to prepare permit and license applications and to respond to NRC inquiries. The successful candidate will apply engineering fundamentals, regulatory knowledge, and project management

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year university or equivalent experience.
• Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards.
• Demonstrated experience in nuclear licensing or comparable field.
• Ability to analyze and interpret U.S. NRC regulations and guidance.
• Experience with U.S. NRC construction permit and operating license application preparation and/or reviews.
• Project management experience, including schedules, deadlines, budgets, and team leadership.
• Understanding of nuclear reactor design and operation.
• Self-starter with ability to manage deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft, author, and review licensing documents including sections of a Construction Permit Application or Operating License Application.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to prepare responses to NRC audit questions and requests for additional information.
• Interface with the Licensing Team to complete licensing tasks.
• Coordinate with design personnel to ensure designs meet regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with regulations and QA standards.
• Interface with TerraPower technical discipline teams, partners, and contractors.
• Review correspondence to and from regulatory agencies.
• Develop licensing strategies to support project goals.
