Job summary

TerraPower in Bellevue, WA seeks a Lead Engineer to support the Natrium Demonstration Project, focusing on the Natrium primary systems design. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define requirements, develop designs, and support licensing activities.

The role demands strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, extensive experience in complex system design, and excellent technical writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of relevant experience; advanced degree may substitute.
• Experience in designing complex systems or structures and leading cross-disciplinary efforts.
• Strong configuration management and design control tool knowledge for nuclear/industrial applications.
• Familiarity with nuclear design standards (ASME BPVC III; NQA-1/ISO 9001) and licensing interfaces.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Drive alignment across multidisciplinary engineering teams to define and refine system requirements.
• Design nuclear and industrial mechanical systems with requirements, analysis, specifications, and drawings.
• Develop and maintain system architecture and design documentation (e.g., BDDs, P&IDs, ICDs).
• Establish design bases including regulatory criteria and performance criteria.
• Promote continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices.
• Interface with licensing activities for construction and operating licenses.
