Valar Atomics is seeking a Senior Nuclear I&C Hardware Engineer to own the instrumentation for the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor program. You will manage neutron flux detection, radiation monitoring, and protection system sensors, ensuring correct instrument selection, signal chain design, and robust installation practices.

You will coordinate with reactor physics, shielding, and safety engineers to deliver end-to-end instrumentation from specification to commissioning, driving

Qualifications

• Nuclear instrumentation engineering experience.
• Experience with radiation qualification processes.
• Strong understanding of instrument selection for nuclear plants.

Responsabilités

• Select neutron flux detection hardware across ranges and environments.
• Design and analyze end-to-end signal chains and grounding.
• Apply detector physics to instrument placement and shielding decisions.
• Specify radiation monitoring instrumentation and environmental monitors.
• Specify process instrumentation for high-temperature helium service.
• Produce instrumentation engineering documentation and diagrams.
• Lead installation design, thermowells, and cable routing with other teams.
• Lead qualification per IEEE 323/344 methods and reports.
• Oversee reactor protection system hardware scope and setpoints.
• Plan integration and verification test programs and commissioning.
