Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Staff I&C Hardware Engineer to specify, design, install, commission, and maintain instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. The role includes field instrument selection, control panel design, hazardous area classification, and safety instrumented systems.

You will lead complex projects, oversee contractors, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with I&C software, process, electrical, mechanical, and nuclear safety teams

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (any of the listed disciplines).
• 8+ years of instrumentation or I&C engineering experience in process industries with ownership of instrumentation scope on capital projects.
• Experience specifying and sizing field instruments and control valves and leading instrument data sheet development.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
• Experience with hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety loop verification for new/modified installations.
• Knowledge of safety instrumented system hardware scope including SIL determination and verification.

Responsibilities

• Specify field instrumentation and size devices; produce instrument data sheets and requisitions.
• Size and specify final control elements including valves, actuators, and flow elements; perform sizing and verification.
• Design control panels and remote I/O architecture including power distribution and IS barriers.
• Perform hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety loop calculations.
• Own instrumentation engineering documentation and ensure standards and turnover deliverables.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, and piping engineers on installation details.
• Provide technical direction to contractors and vendors; mentor junior engineers.
