Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking a Principal Nuclear I&C Engineer to own the technical direction of instrumentation for a high‑temperature gas‑cooled reactor program. You will define measurement architecture, lead safety‑critical design decisions, and steer vendor and regulator interactions to ensure robust, licensable instrumentation solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear, Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in nuclear instrumentation, radiation detection, or reactor I&C.
• Demonstrated ownership of instrumentation scope across multiple programs with design and qualification experience.

Responsibilities

• Define reactor measurement architecture across startup, intermediate, and power ranges.
• Own the instrumentation application strategy and qualification bases for safety‑significant designs.
• Serve as discipline design authority for safety‑significant instrumentation changes and licensing support.
• Lead external engagement with regulators, vendors, and industry standards groups.
• Mentor engineers and build the engineering capability of the IC&E organization.
