Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an I&C Hardware Engineer to specify, design, install, commission, and maintain the instrumentation and control hardware for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities.

The role covers field instrument and final element selection, control panel and I/O architecture design, hazardous area classification, safety instrumented system hardware, field wiring and network infrastructure, calibration, loop commissioning, and control loop tuning supporting both capital projects and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and hands-on instrumentation experience in process industries.
• 5+ years in instrumentation or I&C engineering for process facilities.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrument data sheets.
• Experience with hazardous area classification per NEC/IEC and intrinsic safety.
• Familiarity with 4-20 mA/HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, PROFIBUS PA, and Modbus RTU.

Responsibilities

• Select, size, and specify field instrumentation and final control elements with data sheets and requisitions.
• Design control panels and remote I/O architecture; manage power distribution and safety barriers.
• Perform hazardous area classification and intrinsic safety loop calculations.
• Develop instrumentation docs: loop diagrams, hook-up drawings, I/O lists, and P&ID mark-ups.
• Support SIS hardware scope including SIL determination and verification calculations.
