Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Reston, VA is seeking an experienced I&C Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group. You will design, analyze, and upgrade instrumentation and control systems for new builds and plant modernization, working with a project team of engineers and designers.

The role emphasizes collaboration with vendors, preparation of specifications, and mentoring junior staff, with emphasis on safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience in I&C design engineering.
• Experience with equipment selection, control philosophy, and design packages.
• Experience in controls design for turbines, pumps, feedwater controls, and data displays.
• Experience as client liaison in a lead engineering role; design documentation reviews.
• PE license is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work on instrumentation and control systems for new and existing power plants.
• Prepare and review calculations, including scaling, uncertainty and setpoints.
• Interface with vendors to review documents and prepare purchase specs.
• Prepare reports and studies presenting technical information clearly.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and guide project teams.
• Assist project manager to deliver projects on time and within budget.
