Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to join its Nuclear Power Group in Reston, VA. Lead and support control-system design for new builds and modernization projects, including PLC/DCS/HSI development and vendor coordination.

The role requires a strong technical background in I&C design for nuclear facilities, excellent communication, and a BS or MS in ABET-accredited engineering with 10+ years of experience. PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• 10+ years of experience in I&C Design Engineering; at least 5 years at a nuclear facility.
• PE license is preferred.
• Clear communication in speech and writing.
• Knowledge of equipment and pre-engineered systems for design execution.

Responsibilities

• Develop Digital Systems Design—PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems.
• Prepare control system requirements and procurement specs for nuclear plant control systems.
• Interface with the client to ensure project execution and client satisfaction.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and studies to meet client requirements.
• Manage resources and develop estimates for task completion and budget development.
• Support the development of proposals.
• Prepare and review diagrams and drawings for new and upgraded controls solutions.
• Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective.
• Interface with vendors for document reviews, ensure equipment compliance, and witness FAT for the client.
• Support implementation of projects at client facilities.
