Valar Atomics in California is seeking a senior technical authority for nuclear instrumentation and controls (I&C) with a focus on neutron detection and radiation monitoring equipment. You will lead design, integration, and commissioning for reactor protection systems.

The role requires guiding system modeling, safety analyses, vendor oversight, and compliance with IEEE 603, IEC 61508, and DOE guidance. You will mentor engineers and collaborate across reactor physics, electrical, and operations

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in nuclear I&C, radiation detection, or reactor protection.
• Hands-on experience with neutron detectors, signal processing electronics, and radiation monitors.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE 603, ANSI/ANS standards, and DOE guidance.

Responsabilidades

• Lead design and integration of neutron detectors and signal conditioning electronics.
• Develop I&C architectures for safety-related and non-safety systems per standards.
• Lead FAT/SAT, environmental and seismic qualification activities.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare safety documentation.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across teams; interface with vendors and labs.
