Job summary

Valar Atomics Inc. seeks a Senior I&C technical authority for nuclear instrumentation and controls, with emphasis on neutron detection, detector signal processing electronics, and radiation monitoring equipment.

You will lead design, integration, vendor oversight, safety evaluations, and commissioning for reactor protection and monitoring systems. Collaborate across engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, interface with vendors and regulators, and ensure compliance with IEEE 603, IEC 61508,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in nuclear I&C, radiation detection, or related areas.
• Hands-on with neutron detectors and signal conditioning electronics.
• Experience with environmental monitoring instrumentation and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, selection, and integration of neutron detectors and signal conditioning electronics.
• Develop and validate radiation monitoring systems and environmental instrumentation.
• Oversee detector placement, shielding, and response characterization.
• Perform calibration strategies and safety analyses for neutron and radiation systems.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE 603, IEC 61508 and DOE guidance in all deliverables.
