Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Generation) - Nuclear to join our Power & Energy team in Houston. You will provide technical leadership on nuclear projects, oversee electrical design, and coordinate with utility owners, reactor vendors, and contractors.

Responsibilities include leading Class 1E and non-Class 1E systems, performing safety‑driven analyses, and ensuring compliance with NRC/ASME/NQA-1 standards. Travel and site work may be involved.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in nuclear plants or advanced reactors.
  • Experience with Class 1E, safety classifications, seismic, and licensing-basis requirements.
  • Ability to develop and verify electrical calculations, drawings, and procurement documents.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering for operating nuclear plants and new reactor projects.
  • Design, analyze, and modify AC/DC power systems, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems.
  • Prepare and review nuclear-grade calculations, drawings, specifications, and procurement documents.
  • Apply nuclear safety classifications, quality classification, and licensing-basis requirements.
  • Lead power system studies (load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash).
  • Coordinate interfaces with multidisciplinary teams and ensure timely, compliant engineering work.
