Job summary

WSP is expanding its nuclear engineering capability in the United States and seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Generation) - Nuclear to lead complex assignments across operating plants, life-extension, and advanced reactor programs.

You will own challenging scopes, influence design decisions, and collaborate with clients, suppliers, and project teams to deliver safe, constructible solutions while strengthening WSP's growing nuclear practice in a presence-driven market.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience, including at least 7 years in nuclear power.
  • Experience in nuclear mechanical areas such as plant systems or reactor components.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, or approving controlled engineering deliverables.
  • Knowledge of design control, configuration management, quality assurance, and relevant codes.
  • Ability to communicate technical issues clearly with clients and teams.
  • Willingness to travel to client offices, supplier facilities, and nuclear sites.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and deliver mechanical engineering assignments per quality programs, codes, standards, budget, and schedule.
  • Lead mechanical engineering for operating nuclear facilities, plant upgrades, and new reactor projects.
  • Develop and review design criteria, design bases, drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Apply mechanical principles to piping, pumps, valves, HVAC, and reactor components.
  • Perform analyses including hydraulics, heat transfer, piping, and design-basis calculations.
  • Coordinate interfaces across disciplines and support design reviews and technical interfaces.
  • Prepare scope, schedule, and estimates for proposals; mentor less-experienced engineers.
