Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a skilled electrical engineer to join a project team working on electrical systems for nuclear power plants. You will design, analyze, and modify plant equipment, performing power studies, short circuits, and protection settings while coordinating with mechanical, civil, and I&C disciplines.

The role requires travel to client sites and vendors for design reviews and field verification.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five or more years' experience in design of electrical engineering systems in a project team environment for industrial applications, focusing on existing nuclear power plants.
• Experience with selection of equipment, materials, and preparation of engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution (transformers, generators, motors, relays).
• Effective written and verbal communication to convey information to project team and client.
• Detail oriented approach to work.
• Badge eligibility for unescorted access to a nuclear power station.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering design change packages to install, replace or upgrade plant equipment for long-term reliability.
• Prepare and review calculations (AC/DC power studies, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relay settings).
• Prepare and review equipment procurement specifications.
• Support vendor bid reviews and responses, track questions/responses.
• Prepare scoping documents for conceptual designs with constructability reviews.
• Interface with project team members from other disciplines and with the client.
• Attend client meetings and site field walkdowns to validate scope and ensure client satisfaction.
• Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and field verification.
