Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an electrical engineer to design, review, and upgrade nuclear power plant electrical systems within a project team. You will prepare calculations, specs, and design change packages, coordinating with vendors and clients to ensure reliability and compliance.

The role requires ABET-accredited degree and 5+ years in nuclear-related electrical design, with opportunities to lead automation-focused initiatives and travel to client sites.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited electrical engineering program required.
• Five+ years’ experience designing electrical systems in industrial projects, with focus on nuclear power plants.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, and preparing design change packages and specifications.
• Experience with low and medium voltage distribution systems (transformers, generators, motors, relays).
• Effective written and verbal communication to project team and client.
• Detail oriented approach to work.
• Ability to obtain unescorted access badge for a nuclear power station.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering design change packages to install or upgrade plant equipment for reliability.
• Prepare and review calculations (AC/DC power, short circuit, cable ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relays).
• Prepare and review equipment procurement specifications.
• Participate in bid reviews and vendor communications.
• Develop scoping documents for conceptual designs and constructability reviews.
• Interface with multi-discipline team members and clients.
• Travel to client and vendor sites for design reviews and field verification.
• Support site installation activities and project management oversight.
