Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Group. You will design, analyze, and upgrade electrical systems for existing nuclear plants, coordinating with multi-discipline teams and clients.

This role requires 5+ years of nuclear-focused electrical experience and ability to obtain unescorted access. Responsibilities include preparing change packages, calculations, procurement specs, and supporting vendor reviews, site walkdowns, and field verifications.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Five+ years’ experience designing electrical engineering systems in a project team environment for industrial applications, focusing on existing nuclear power plants.
• Experience selecting equipment, materials, and preparing engineering design change packages, calculations, and specifications.
• Experience with electrical system design including low and medium voltage distribution (transformers, generators, motors, relays).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented; able to obtain nuclear site badge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering design change packages to install or upgrade plant equipment for reliability.
• Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations (AC/DC power studies, short circuit, ampacity, voltage drop, breaker coordination, motor starting, protective relays).
• Prepare and review equipment procurement specifications.
• Support vendor bid reviews and respond to vendor questions; maintain tracking for open items.
• Prepare and review scoping documents for conceptual designs; conduct constructability reviews.
• Interface with project team members across disciplines and with the client; support site installations and field verification.
• Travel to client/vendor offices and plant sites for reviews and coordination.
• Assist the S&L project manager to ensure projects hit scope, schedule, and budget; manage deliverables and progress reporting.
• Maintain overall technical, financial, and administrative performance of engineering scope.
