Job summary

The Mutual Group in Seattle is seeking a Commercial Lines Insurance Nonprofit Human Services Underwriting Specialist to grow and manage a niche portfolio. You will analyze exposures, determine coverages and premiums, and advise peers on underwriting processes while building strong agent relationships to drive business flow.

Role requires extensive underwriting experience across multiple lines, CPCU or equivalent, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years underwriting all commercial lines (Property, GL, Professional Liability, WC, Crime, Auto, Umbrella, etc).
• Prefer nonprofit human services and education underwriting experience.
• Excellent communication skills both in writing and verbal.
• Ability to analyze and make decisions in a timely manner.
• Working to obtain or has CPCU or other industry equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Delivers profitable outcomes and grows a portfolio of complex niche business through risk selection and pricing.
• Develops and maintains relationships with distribution partners; conducts portfolio reviews and coordinates with teams.
• Mentors staff, supports career development, and ensures training for new hires.
• Ensures compliance with service standards and timely renewal/notice processing.
• Communicates portfolio health and market conditions to team members.
