Job summary

The Mutual Group in New York seeks an experienced Commercial Lines Underwriting Specialist for Nonprofit Human Services. You will analyze exposures, set coverages and pricing, and advise staff on technical issues. Building strong agent relationships and managing renewals are key parts of the role.

Hybrid work arrangement with initial in-office days is expected; travel is limited. Ideal candidate has 5+ years in commercial lines underwriting and CPCU or equivalent ongoing.

Qualifications

• 5+ years underwriting commercial lines such as Property, GL, Professional Liability, WC, Crime, Auto, Umbrella.
• Experience with nonprofit human services and education sector underwriting preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to analyze and decide quickly with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Grow and manage a portfolio of complex nonprofit commercial lines.
• Advise other underwriters and staff on processes and procedures.
• Build relationships with agents to drive business flow.
• Underwrite renewals and refer/approve where appropriate.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and timely renewals/non-renewals.
