Job summary

The Mutual Group is seeking a Commercial Lines Insurance Nonprofit Human Services Underwriting Specialist to grow and manage a complex book, advising colleagues and shaping coverage and pricing strategy. You’ll build strong agent relationships and exercise independent judgment on underwriting decisions with accounts up to substantial premiums.

You will work in a Field Underwriting department with hybrid work options and opportunities to mentor and lead within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years underwriting all commercial lines.
• Prefer nonprofit human services and education underwriting experience.

Responsibilities

• Delivers profitable outcomes and grows a portfolio of niche business through risk selection and pricing.
• Develops relationships with distribution partners and maintains regular reviews.
• Mentors staff, conducts training, and supports employee development.
• Ensures timely renewals, notices, and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Collaborates with risk control for inspections and servicing needs.
