Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead the design and operation of enterprise network-security infrastructure. The role focuses on Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, Cisco switching, and Cortex XSIAM, partnering with SOC and infrastructure teams to reduce risk while maintaining high availability.

The Senior Engineer will mentor junior engineers, act as escalation point, and drive architecture initiatives across security and network domains.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, Engineering, or related field; 3 extra years if Bachelor’s.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in network engineering/security.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in production.
• Advanced Palo Alto Panorama operational experience.
• Strong HA design, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and packet-trace troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cisco switching (Catalyst/Nexus).
• Knowledge of zero-trust, least-privilege, and microsegmentation concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Manage Palo Alto Panorama central deployments and templates.
• Design security policies using zero-trust and least-privilege.
• Configure zones, NAT, VPNs, decryption, URL filtering, and Threat Prevention.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation initiatives.
• Integrate NGFW with Strata Logging Service and Cortex XSIAM.
• Mentor engineers and lead incident root-cause analyses.
