Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead design, operations, and troubleshooting of enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will own Palo Alto NGFW environments, Panorama management, and HA deployments while collaborating with SOC and cloud teams to reduce risk and ensure highly available services.

The role requires strong expertise in firewall policies, segmentation, zero-trust, and cloud security controls, with broad experience in Cisco switching and log

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 3 extra years with a Bachelor’s degree may apply.
• 10+ years in network engineering, network security, firewall administration, or security operations.
• 6+ years with Palo Alto Networks firewall in production.
• Hands-on with Palo Alto Panorama and multi-device policy management.
• Strong experience with Palo Alto High Availability deployments.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, NAT, routing, and packet-level troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments (PAN-OS).
• Own centralized firewall management via Palo Alto Panorama and device groups.
• Design and govern security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot security zones, NAT, VPNs, decryption, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation using security zones, VLANs, and virtual routers.
• Develop secure controls for traffic between users, servers, apps, and cloud resources.
• Architect and troubleshoot PAN-OS high availability: Active/Passive and Active/Active.
• Perform HA failover testing, PAN-OS upgrades, and disaster-recovery exercises.
• Troubleshoot HA dependencies and network path issues.
• Lead Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switching configurations and troubleshooting.
• Document architecture standards, runbooks, and change procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
