Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Senior Network & Security Engineer to lead the design, operation, troubleshooting, and improvement of enterprise network-security infrastructure. You will own Palo Alto NGFWs, Panorama, HA, and Cisco switching, driving zero-trust policy design and segmentation across complex environments.

The role requires hands-on leadership, incident resolution skills, and collaboration with SOC, cloud, and leadership teams to reduce risk and maintain highly available services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 8+ years of experience.
• 5+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in production environments.
• Advanced experience with Panorama, device groups, templates, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Deep knowledge of HA designs and failover processes.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, NAT, VPN, and packet-trace capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments (PAN-OS).
• Own centralized firewall management via Panorama with policy inheritance and upgrades.
• Govern security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege, and risk-based principles.
• Configure NAT, VPN, decryption, URL filtering, and threat prevention across zones.
• Lead network segmentation and microsegmentation using VLANs and virtual routers.
• Develop secure controls for traffic among users, servers, apps, and cloud resources.
• Architect and test HA deployments (Active/Passive and Active/Active).
• Mentor engineers and lead incident response and post-incident reviews.
